About the Event
The Department of English and Cultural Studies, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus organizes a five-day Quality Improvement Programme (QIP) from 17 to 21 June 2025, titled Digital Archives and Cultural Memory: Tools for the 21st Century Teachers. This initiative equips faculty with essential digital skills in cultural data preservation and interpretation.
The sessions will introduce participants to digital humanities tools, natural language processing, and archival practices, with hands-on guidance from experts including Dr. Spandana Bhowmik (WIPRO Archives), Dr. Jibrael Jos, Dr. Rimi Nandy, and Ms. Margaret Salve. The programme will emphasize optimizing technology to build digital archives and engage meaningfully with cultural memory in research and pedagogy.
Aligned with SDG 4, 9, and 11, the QIP will foster innovation, interdisciplinarity, and sustainable scholarship. It will aim to enhance teaching, promote responsible cultural stewardship, and encourage the integration of digital methods into humanities research.
